The DevOps team at Zepl oversees the internal systems and assets while advocating for a self-service infrastructure. We're into developer and machine care, and the challenges we solve aim to have long lasting positive effects on the engineering team's work and on our customers' experience. Our scope includes reliability and release engineering tasks as well as incident prevention and management.

About your role

As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you will ensure Zepl provides a scalable, fault tolerant, cloud based architecture. You'll get to design and develop best practices using bleeding edge technologies. You'll thrive by writing quality code that is stable, reliable, and easy for others to read and maintain. Your work will ensure the engineering team has everything they need to be successful. You’ll be part of an experienced team that cares deeply about building great software, and is excited about working at the forefront of the data science industry. At Zepl we consider DevOps a vital part of delivering a positive experience to developers and end users.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build, test and manage infrastructure and code using modern tools.
  • Design and build new infrastructure environments using modern best practices for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, security, and performance.
  • Handle release management and code deployment.
  • Ensure infrastructure stability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ Years senior Linux administrator experience including general database and networking knowledge
  • 3+ Years with common DevOps best practices (CI/CD, monitoring/logging/alerting, testing)
  • You have at least 2 years of experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Expertise with commonly used modern development software such as Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Ubuntu.
  • Strong skills with common tooling such as Bash shell scripting, Python, etc.
  • You’ve implemented and managed complex micro-service architectures.
  • You’re comfortable operating in dynamic environments, and are self-directed.
  • You're a team player with excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • You like staying up to date with tools and stacks and enjoy sharing your latest discoveries with others.
  • You are proactive in taking ownership of tasks and bringing them to completion.

Preferred qualifications

  • Infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL, CouchDB, Elastic, CockroachDB, RocksDB, Redis, PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge in distributed systems, configuration and secret management, chain of trust, resilience and chaos engineering practices.
  • Golden signals, USE and RED methods application.
  • DevSecOps experience or interest.
